All of this has caused a significant amount of loose skin and stretch marks predominantly in my midsection. It has crossed my mind to undergo surgery to snip things up, but the cost and the recovery process put me off. 

In light of this, I decided that a more natural approach to this problem may be my best option. I made it a mission to learn lifestyle changes I could make to tighten my stomach skin after weight loss. 

Below are five tips that helped me tighten my core, demolish belly fat, and diminish stretch marks!

But before we discuss how to treat loose skin after losing weight, let’s examine the underlying cause.

There are many reasons for loose skin, including weight loss, age, and genetics. 

Most commonly, it occurs in people who have experienced rapid weight loss or a significant amount of weight loss in a short period of time. 

Another common cause is aging which can lead to thinning skin, wrinkles, and lax muscles. 

Finally, genetics can also play a role in whether you have loose skin after weight loss due to your parents’ genes.

Getting enough sleep each night can make a difference in how tight you feel after losing weight because stress hormones get in the way of natural hormone production that promotes elasticity in our skin as we age. 

3. Eat More Protein

Eating more protein will help the muscles in your stomach tighten, helping your skin appear firmer. 

There are many protein-rich foods, such as red meat and eggs, to include in a healthy diet. Protein shakes or powders are also an option for those who do not eat meat or do not want to cook. 

Drinking a protein shake before working out can help you build muscle mass as well as tighten your stomach skin.

4. Tone Abdominal Muscle

In terms of weight loss, we often focus on the number on the scale. But, when you lose weight, your body won’t necessarily look like what society deems ideal.

One of the best exercises for building abdominal muscles is Ab Wheel Rollouts. A great exercise that works the rectus abdominis and transverse abdominis, two essential core muscles.
